ROLE OF PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTION PAPER IN UPSC COMBINED DEFENSE SERVICES EXAMINATION’S PREPARATION

Combined Defense Services Examination is conducted twice by Union Public Service Commission twice every year. Candidates in multiple of lakh appear every time in the examination with the hope of being commissioned into Indian Armed Forces. But among the lakhs of candidates, only few of the lucky and hardworking candidates make it to the respective prestigious Armed Force Training Academy.

Hopefully, we are all aware that Armed Forces needs smart and intellectual personality. And to develop a smart personality, an individual needs to develop its personality in all fields. So not only continuous and regular studies will let you to enter the Training Academy’s premises but smart studies also plays equal role in Examination’s preparation.

Previous Year Question Papers plays a major role in preparing smartly for Combined Defense Services Examination because it’s very helpful in finding previous years examination’s questions pattern from respective subjects and respective topics.

COMBINED DEFNESE SERVICES EXAMINATION PATTERN

PAPER-I  ENGLISH

Maximum Marks :- 200

Time Duration :- 2 Hours

PAPER-II  GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

Maximum Marks :- 200

Time Duration :- 2 Hours

PAPER-III MATHEMATICS

Maximum Marks :- 200

Time Duration :- 2 Hours

STEPS FOR SMART PREPARATION OF COMBINED DEFENSE SERVICES EXAMINATION

Analyze previous years question papers as much as you can.Identify question from different subjects that appears in examination every time.Identify sections or chapters of different subjects from where questions are appearing in examination every time.

Note them down on the sheet of plain paper year wise.

Now, find out the year in which the least number of questions appeared in the examination from these respective individual sections.The least number of quantity of questions you find, that quantity of questions from respective sections/chapters will probably come in examination in upcoming attempt.

Make those Section or Chapters as your strong part for preparation.These sections/Chapters will make you to score almost equal to average cutoff score.

By this time, you have won half of the fight for the preparation of written part of the examination.

Now, for the merit part of the Examination, you have to analyze your personality and find that in which area you can score more. i.e. in Services Selection Board Interview or in Written Examination.If you select your written side as scoring area for merit part of exam, then by now, you have prepared for almost average cutoff score of exam. i.e. 20-30% of total score.

Now, you have to prepare for the next and last 30%.

For that, you have to find your strong subjects first and  start preparing them hard from different books as per exam’s question level instead of studying the subject like PHD Standards.This will save your time, won’t let you bore while preparing for exams, makes your mental capability strong, and develops decision making skills in your personality.Not only this, this decision making skill will develop leadership quality in one’s personality.And these decision making skill and leadership qualities will help you a lot to score well in your Services Selection Board Interview.

NOTIFICATION DETAILS FOR COMBINED DEFENSE SERVICES EXAMINATION

CDS Exam is conducted twice in a year by Union Public Service Examination. It is mostly scheduled in the first week of Feburary and November respectively. For the Feburary’s exam, notification is probably released in the month of November and for November’s exam, the notification is probably released in the month of August.
